NOTICE: The
information in the GRIB headers for the *GMET* files in the ww3_dps
directory for ID 240 was
incorrect. The correct information is in the
GRIB GDS for *GOCN* ID 240 for files in the
ww3 and ww3_dps directories.
Since the data are duplicates, we stopped
populating the ww3_dps
directory.
Wave heights for land points is due to the
land averaging routine which
is run during the engribbing
process. The inland wave heights are
obviously false, but the waves in enclosed
basins where the global model
does not run, such as the Med., are
erroneous and potentially dangerous.
Unfortunately, FNMOC does not use the Bit
Map Section of GDS to mask
model domains. We recently
started providing FNMOC Med. WW3 grids at
http://usgodae.org/ftp/outgoing/fnmoc/models/ww3_regional/med/.
